Alvin High School National Art Honor Society Chapter
What is NAHS?
The National Art Honor Society is a community service based organization that is geared towards bringing engagement through the arts into our community. It's also a group that will help you meet new friends that are interested in Art too.
When does NAHS meet?
AHS' NAHS chapter meets after school on Tuesdays in room FAC 117 (Mz. Stilwell's room)
What does NAHS do?
NAHS members will participate in activities such as Bob Ross paint-alongs, making trash/found object mums for homecoming, getting to experiment with different styles and mediums, and volunteer opportunities. We also will take a couple field trips this year, including going to Texas Art Supply and some plein air sketch trips.
what is required to join?
You do not have to be currently enrolled in an Art class to participate, but members must have completed at least one semester of Art 1 to join. There is a $10 due to join, and participation in weekly meetings is important. Members should be able to make at least 75% of the meetings to stay an active member and complete at least 15 service hours related to art (we have lots of opportunities!).
Can I letter in art?
Sure can! Mz. Stilwell has a letter jacket form where you can tally up your points and know when you qualify for a letter jacket.
do i have to be in an art class to be in nahs?
Nope! A student must have at least completed one semester of a visual Arts class, however having an art class every year is not a requirement.
Is there a gpa requirement?
Students must have an A average in their Art class(es), and be in good academic standing with at least a 70 in an AP/honors course and a 75 in a regular class.
